Bible For Kids Great Bible Stories For Kids edition by Speedy Publishing Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

  • The positives This version did a good job of changing the language in the stories to be more age-appropriate for a younger audience. I have another Bible for kids in hardcopy that uses words I find too complex to keep my son's attention. Granted he's 3, but I appreciate that these stories were worded more understandably.

The cons I wish this book was labeled for what it is, it has only two Bible stories. It's misleading to label this "Bible Stories", and in the description mention Jonah and the whale, and that story isn't even present.

The illustrations were also inconsistent. As with other another book I reviewed from Speedy Publishing, it feels like they pulled stock images from a database. There was little consistency.

Overall, I liked the writing but feel like this needs polishing before it's ready to be purchased.I received this product for free in exchange for an honest review. These opinions are my own.
  • Okay so last night I read this book with my 6 yrs old son, well mainly he read the book but got bored quickly and then I took over. The book is decent for kids, however there are some text added within the story by the author which surely was fabricated to relate more with kids and honestly I cannot knock that. I wished it remain more true to the actual stories from the bible, but I can see a young kid enjoying it never the less. My son and I enjoyed the spiritual bonding time together and this book surely delivered that aspect of it.

On to the images, the images are nice, yet sometimes they do not even relate to the stories. I found that the images should have been thought out far more before publishing the book. They look as if they were snatched off the web and not illustrated for this specific book. I may be wrong but it looks as if this book was composed way to quickly for its own good. . Also the images lack text below them detailing the images further in order to grasp the child's attention further and thus lack real presentation. Some of the stories lack key parts like the rainbow at the end of the Noah story, but I am certain your child will still like it. As a parent we can always fill them on such said missing parts, since that is part of being parents.

I still however believe that for a kid this book is perfect to get their feet wet and help them understand the bible stories better. It is a keeper nd I would have given it 5 stars yet could not due to some of the issues mentioned.

  • I'm always interested in finding new ways of reading the Bible to my 3 year old. Unfortunately, this wasn't a hit with him. It has too many words and not enough pictures. The pictures should help tell the stories, but instead they were just a picture of a hammer or lightning bolt. My son loves to stare at the pictures when im reading, a hammer does not keep a 3 year olds attention. There are even a handful of pages where there are no pictures on either side of the page, but a lot of words. That's when he said he was done.. This is probably geared for an older child, not toddler. In regards to the words, I do think for an older child it would be good, there is a lot of detail to the stories, they dont leave out much from the Bible. Another thing that I saw only after downloading is that it's only 2 stories - creation and the flood. There is no indication that this is only two stories, it's called a Bible for kids. The cover is a picture of David with his slingshot, but that's not even part of this book...I think thats quite misleading and hopefully the author will update those details soon. I did recieve this for free for my honest opinion. Unfortunately, it was not a good fit for us with a toddler, maybe he will be more interested in this when he's a little older. Right now I'll stick to kids Bibles with pictures.
