Ebook Fashioned to Reign Empowering Women to Fulfill Their Divine Destiny Kris Vallotton Jack Hayford 9780800796198 Books
"I really wanted to like this book, I think he comes to some really great conclusions and I think where he takes it is correct in the end, but he uses some incredibly bizarre arguments to try and make points that could've been made quite easily without them.
Adam being intersex? Men can only get in touch with their feminine side if they marry? Adam prophesying that "man shall leave his father and mother"... uh hello! A first year Bible student knows that that statement was Moses' commentary on the first couple.
All of that to say, I really wanted to like this book, but I am just probably going to pitch it. If you choose to buy or read this book, please don't be taken in by the persuasive and affable presentation, fact check every single thing that seems like a "new revelation." The Bible stands on his side when it comes to the nature of women in God's eyes, but he sadly ruins his credibility by choosing the most bizarre routes to get there."

Fashioned to Reign Empowering Women to Fulfill Their Divine Destiny Kris Vallotton Jack Hayford 9780800796198 Books Reviews
- As I read this easy read, I kept thinking, "I knew it! I knew Jesus is for women, he's about me and I'm a woman!" I've often been frustrated with the church. I can manage a company and am entrusted with a several thousand dollar budget, but often in the church I've felt second class. It just has never made sense, especially when I would be blessed in management and promoted for being me. It's not something a woman solely can really argue for herself. It takes men. (Think of slavery, slaves wanted freedom, but it took whites to bring change). Thank you Kris for writing this! For being an encourager of all people men but especially women.
This book gave new cultural lenses to look through scripture based on what was happening when the letters (or NT) where written. Each chapter took about 15-20 minutes to finish. I'd recommend this to both men and women. - I really wanted to like this book, I think he comes to some really great conclusions and I think where he takes it is correct in the end, but he uses some incredibly bizarre arguments to try and make points that could've been made quite easily without them.
If you choose to buy or read this book, please don't be taken in by the persuasive and affable presentation, fact check every single thing that seems like a "new revelation." The Bible stands on his side when it comes to the nature of women in God's eyes, but he sadly ruins his credibility by choosing the most bizarre routes to get there. - I am a male business executive at one of the largest companies in the world and this book is on empowering women -- a topic which, at first glance, may not logically fit right in my wheelhouse. That said, I have a beautiful wife, two incredible daughters, a loving mother, and I work with many women. So getting fresh revelation on how to release women into their God given destinies is highly applicable to my daily life.
In a nutshell, this book is super encouraging as it sets right many wrongs that the Church has embraced as it relates to Biblical (mis)interpretations of women's roles. For far too many years, too many preachers have taught incorrectly as it relates to the female's role in the church based on a ridiculously shallow understanding of a select few verses in the Bible, while virtually ignoring Jesus' own interactions with women.
I HIGHLY recommend this book to every woman I know, and to every man who is married, has daughters, or was simply born from a woman. - I am a woman devoted to Christ, my husband, my family, and my church. I have believed, though saddened by it, that I am less a daughter of the King, weak as a wife, not enough as a mother, and second class in the church. My husband is not a man to demand submission and my church tries to be respectful of women, yet there has always been the agreement that women don't lead and that we are under man. In my heart, I have hated being a woman. I've desired for greater things but have settled for less, and in the process my heart and desires have quietly stepped down.
This book has changed my view and understanding of how God sees women and how I should live as a woman. Kris has obviously studied the scriptures diligently, but also has the guidance of the Holy Spirit. His heart and passion for women being able to live out their desires and their talents is not only refreshing, but inspiring. He is respectful to all who read his book.
I encourage you to read the whole book openly before judging. Just read. Then, if you need, go back and study and research. - Fashioned to Reign is a powerful, truth-based read destined to set both men and women free all over the world.
A little about my story Since I was a young girl, I have been focused, driven, disciplined, and goal-oriented -- all traits that I felt were unwelcome and somehow sinful in a church environment. My ambitions felt limited by my gender, and I simply could not understand why God made me to be someone I should not. Instead of embracing who I was, I prayed for years that God would somehow make me more meek, submissive and quiet in the church.
I struggled with the idea that all of who I am is somehow beneath the will of a husband. You see, I grew up with a mother who worked hard to support me. She was strong, courageous, and willing to deny herself so that her children could have more. All the while, my father cheated on her, stole from her family, and ultimately left her for my Sunday school teacher. Her second husband paraded himself as a leader in the church, putting on a charade in public that was very different at home. He never went to work, instead dressing up in nice clothes and driving a Lincoln he couldn't afford so that he could spend his days having lunches and hanging out with the church staff members. When he wasn't doing that, he was looking at pornography. Eventually, he was arrested and charged for child molestation.
All of this left me with a very distorted view of men, fathers, and ultimately the role I as a wife should play in regard to my husband. God has been so graceful to me, giving me a husband that is loving, understanding, hard-working, and non-domineering. But I still felt so discomforted by some of the passages church leadership used to debase women in the church and home. It was as if somehow, God was saying men were more important than women and that he valued them in a higher regard than us. This teaching left a type of separation between the Lord and I in my personal relationship with Him.
After reading this book, along with Powerful and Free Confronting the Glass Ceiling for Women in the Church., I feel as though bondages have been broken off of my life. I feel liberated and more importantly...I feel as though God loves me the way I am. Knowing exactly who I am and how my Father God sees me has cured an identity crisis I didn't know I was suffering from. I am also now free to see my husband as a source of life and empowerment in my life rather than a kind 'master' who has simply been nice enough not to wield his 'power' against me.
Women and men, don't pass up the chance to read the pages of Fashioned to Reign. Truth is powerful, and it can be found all through the pages of this book. Thank you, Kris, for putting pen to paper. Yet again, you are helping to change lives simply through your obedience to the Lord.
